The Professional Development (PD) Department is responsible for the education and professional development of all William Fry employees from trainees to associates and partners to PAs and business services professionals. The team is made up of six professionals including a lawyer, performance coaches, an innovation specialist and experienced L&D trainers and administrators.

The objective of the team is to support everyone in the firm to do their jobs effectively and to reach their full potential through our four pillars of professional development, namely (a) on-the-job experience; (b) coaching and mentorship (c) formal education and workshops; and (d) opportunities such as projects and secondments.

Our five-week in person paid internship will equip you with professional skills and experience to increase your employability in the area of learning and development. For the duration of your internship, you will be working with the PD department and assigned to a buddy and supervisor to ensure you are fully supported. You will be fully immersed in department work while receiving formal training and mentoring, to empower you to get the most from the opportunity. The internship will provide opportunities to get involved in CSR activities, network with our people across the firm, and socialise with your fellow interns.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the planning and delivery of workshops and formal training sessions
  • Updating learning records and the weekly training diary
  • Assisting in the scheduling of training events and recording Continuous Professional Development (CPD)  
  • Supporting the team's innovation specialist on specific projects/events
  • Updating the intranet and Learning Management System
  • Attending meetings, taking notes and liaising with stakeholders in the firm about professional development activities
  • Research and benchmarking best practice

Skills required:

  • Penultimate/final year student or recent graduate in Professional Development/L&D/ Education and Training
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
